Ryan Smitham - New Sculpture ('13)

July 6 - August 31 2013

Ryan Smitham - New Sculpture: New Sculpture (’13), explores a formal relationship between geometric patterns, organic shapes, luscious surfaces, and a lively palette that has been extrapolated from corporate brand culture. These elements combine to offer a rich aesthetic experience, while overtones of consumption, pollution, and scarcity provide a counterpoint to the work’s visual qualities

Shanell Papp's Opera Cave

July 6 - August 31 2013

Shanell Papp's Opera Cave: Opera's are sung dramas and Caves are lonely echoing places. When I think of Operas and Caves I think of Heavy Metal, secret places and the thoughts that echo within your skull. I think of being haunted in the mind. The work in this show is labor intensive and process based as a way to physically illustrate the rigor of being haunted in the mind.

Transitions & Transformations: New Work by Lethbridge Artists

May 16 - Opening Reception 7pm

May 16 - June 28 2013

The theme ‘transitions and transformations’ is broad and subjective, allowing for a wide range of interpretations. Transitions can be changes of state, the development of ideas, or the evolution of a concept. Transformation can be thematic, or perhaps it reflects the process of turning the raw material of art into a finished piece. Interpreting the theme is the prerogative of the artist. The theme was designed to reflect the gallery’s transition from the Bowman Arts Centre, and transformation into an amazing new professional gallery for Lethbridge artists.

Artists Featured: Leila Armstrong, Cindy Baker, Donna Bilyk, Karen Campbell, Anne Laure-Djaballah, Wayne Dwornik, Mandy Espezel, Leanne Elias, Denton Fredrickson, Barb Goodman, William Hall, Len Komanac, Jeanne Kollee, John Macdonald, Glen MacKinnon, Maria Madacky, Petra Mala Miller, Lindsay Makorto, Kazumi Marthiensen, Karla Mather-Cocks, Megan Mormon, Troy Nickle, Annette Nieukerk, Shanell Papp, Gerard Plettell, Christopher Plume, Patricia Polo, Ian Randall, Madison Reamsbottom, Catherine Ross, Sharon Simmers, Corinne Thiessen Hepher, Deborah Williams, Rod Sayers.

The programming at Casa Gallery is made possible with the generous support of the Alberta Foundation for the Arts.
